Still Using Tampons Or Pads? You Should Read This

What is something that every woman has to endure in your life? You got it, a cycle of menstruation. On average, a woman has her period once a month, for 5 days, about 40 years of your life! During this time, we have to use several products to remain clean and fresh. There must be a market there! The tampon industry and market Pad is a $ 718 million, and tampons and pads are necessities. This made me question the ethical production and value behind these products.

They are mass produced and heavily marketed and cheaply made, bleached rayon and plastics. Why is it that we never see ads safer alternatives, such as cotton products, reusable washable pads and menstrual cups? Any of these alternatives are much cheaper and safer gillion a time to the environment. Until a few months ago, I did not even know existed alternative products, or even think that there is a potential risk of using generics menstruation.

Almost all Sanitary towels and tampons are made of rayon, bleached, cotton and plastic, how safe do you think the material is to be in or very near the vagina? Not to mention that these products leave fibers in the vagina that can cause bladder, vaginal infections and toxic shock syndrome. The buffers are also known to absorb the natural fluids and bacteria from the vagina that occurs to stay clean and healthy.

Take the # 1 ingredient in generic tampons and pads: Rayon. Rayon is a fiber which is made of cellulose fibers, cellulose is a natural fiber, but chemical procedures are necessary to produce rayon including: carbonyl sulfide, sulfuric acid, chlorine and caustic soda.

Side effects of exposure to excessive Rayon may include nausea, vomiting, chest pain, headache and many others. Rayon is not only found in tampons and pads, but a lot of clothes she makes. Sanitary napkins also contain some plastic, which does not allow enough air flow 'down there' to turn can also cause a number of infections. Tampons and pads also bleached with chlorine, resulting in the production of dioxins, which is related to breast cancer, endometriosis, suppression of the immune system and various other conditions.

So, what are our options?

A menstrual cup is my first choice for an alternative buffer / pad. It is a flexible silicone cup that is inserted into the vagina. Essentially this captures all the blood cup and empties every 12 hours during their cycle and reinsert. I know what you're thinking ... disgusting. That's what I thought too, my first thought was that this sounded so unpleasant that never use

However, the use of tampons or pads? You should read this - I guess MoonCupI Cup changed as I researched all the positive effects that come from using a cup. If inserted correctly and carried out no reason ever have to actually touch the blood, but even if it does, what is wrong? Just wash your hands, big baby.

It may take a few cycles to get the hang of how to use one of these cups, but once you do you wish you had started much earlier! I recommend that you continue to use pads or liners until you have mastered the technique of insertion, just in case. Not only will you save a lot of money through a menstrual cup, but you will do a great favor to the environment.

Still Using Tampons Or Pads? You Should Read ThisThink about it, if an average woman uses about 17,000 pads or tampons during their entire period of menstruation, x that by 3.5 million women in the world, and yes, you do the math .... Another great thing about using menstrual cups is that many women have reported having less severe cramping during your period! I know it would only encourage some women to make this change. Some brands of menstrual cups are 'DivaCup "," Mooncup "," LadyCup "and" Lunette ", among many others.

There reusable pad products are made from safe materials that come with highly absorbent washable inserts to fit all the different flow levels. These would be a great option for women who do not like the products to be inserted. These "pads" reusable are made of breathable materials keep your area safe for health, and no leaks! Some of the brands that are available today are: 'Pads Moon', 'Glad Rags "," Puss Pleasure' and can also make your own.

Now, if you are just not so keen on ever having to really see blood or wash your products, or don’t like these options there is another option, sit in a lake for your entire cycle. You will eventually come out very cold and wrinkled, but at least you won’t be throwing away tons of crap into the environment and you don’t have to worry about toxic chemicals being leached into your body…. Just kidding!

OK, there is one last alternative to generic tampons and pads. There are some companies that make natural organic cotton products that do not leach chemicals, and do not leave synthetic materials behind. These can still absorb your natural fluids and they are still not the best things for the environment, but at least cotton is a more natural substance that can biodegrade much quicker and safer. Some brands of these products are: ‘Seventh Generation,’ and ‘Natracare.’
