Ashley
Benson is one of our favorite TV starlets, but although her show Pretty
Little Liars swept the 2013 Teen Choice awards, her red carpet look
could have been a lot better. Let’s break it down:
The focal point of this outfit should be the Armani sequin overlay skirt: it’s gorgeous and it’s epic. The smart thing to do would have been to let everything else take a backseat to the skirt, but that’s not what happened.
Navy and black are a gorgeous combination (have you seen the Phillip Lim for Target collection?) and Ashley could have gone with that combo but NOT in the form of a crop top. It’s either one or the other, a black tank or a navy crop top. The black Bec & Bridge crop top she wore was ill-fitting and distracted from the skirt. Sure, she just wanted to be young, fresh and fit in with the other 99 crop tops on the red carpet, but… no.
Then there are the shoes. A bright lip would have been the right way to introduce a little more color, but her orange suede pumps are far too casual for this look. A higher pump or sandal would have been more flattering on her legs (It's all in the details!)
Lastly, there was a huge hair issue. We tried to make it better by taming that wild piece behind her ear. All Ashley needed to correct this look was a simple silk cami, a pair of nude pumps and a couple of bobby pins.
